Case Study: Jillian Lyons Leo – Summertime Sadness
The Project
Jillian Lyons Leo wanted a simple yet visually compelling music video and photography shoot for her cover of Summertime Sadness. With no crew and no budget, the focus was on capturing her raw emotion and artistry in a natural setting.
The Approach
Minimalist & Impactful: Shot at the beach in Toronto with only natural light, allowing Jillian’s performance to take center stage.
Cinematic Movement: Focused on fluid, expressive dance sequences to enhance the song’s emotional depth.
Adaptability & Efficiency: A fast, no-frills shoot that maximized creativity while keeping the production simple and effective.
The Results
The final music video is a stripped-down, intimate visual that highlights Jillian’s vocal power and connection to the music. The photography captures still moments of movement, emotion, and energy—perfect for promotional use. This project proves that with the right vision, we can do a lot with a little.
