Case Study: Ford GT – The Story of Innovation and Performance
Client: Ford Motor Company
Agency: SJR
Production: Concept, Direction, Cinematography, and Editing
The Story
Some stories demand to be told with power, precision, and speed - just like the Ford GT itself. Our team had the privilege of producing, directing, shooting, and editing a video featuring Richard L’Abbé, an Ottawa-based engineer, entrepreneur, and motorsports enthusiast who embodies the spirit of pushing boundaries.
Richard’s story is one of relentless innovation. As an entrepreneur, he didn’t just develop a helmet and suit to protect against roadside bombs - he proved their effectiveness by personally enduring 19 controlled explosions. His fearless mindset carried over into his passion for high-performance racing, making him a natural fit for Ford’s flagship supercar.
Collaboration
For this project, we worked collaboratively with Ford Motor Company and agency SJR to craft a dynamic and personal narrative. Our production took place at Calabogie Motorsports Park, where Richard is a co-owner, and at his home, capturing both the engineering brilliance of the Ford GT and the personal passion behind his ownership.
Our Approach
We brought the story to life:

🎙️ Intimate interviews with Richard, offering insight into his engineering mindset and love for performance.

🏎️ Track action shots, using car-mounted cameras and drones to showcase the raw speed and precision of the Ford GT.

🎥 Collaborative storytelling, ensuring Ford’s brand messaging was seamlessly integrated into an authentic, human-driven narrative.
The Results
This wasn’t just a car video - it was a story of innovation, risk, and passion. Working with Ford and SJR, we captured not only the beauty of the GT in motion but also the mindset of someone who thrives on pushing limits - both on the track and in life.
Among the first #FordGT owners in Canada, Richard L’Abbé is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of innovation.
This is what led a Canadian entrepreneur to Ford’s most advanced vehicle ever.
